It's hard to imagine that many travellers underestimate the city of Metz... and that's precisely what makes it so charming! The city is characterised by a really cool mix of historical architecture and modern art. During my last short weekend in the former garrison town, just under an hour from Luxembourg, I realised once again how much this city has been continuously upgraded since the construction of the ‘Centre Pompidou-Metz’, a “Dépendance” of its big Parisian brother. Metz is a city of art and history and has been awarded the ‘Ville d'Art et d'Histoire’ label.

Many people know and appreciate the picturesque charm of Amsterdam, the capital of the Netherlands, and the dynamic modernity of Rotterdam, but have never visited The Hague. What a shame! The third largest city in the Netherlands is not only the seat of government and the political heart of the country, but above all an urban gem with a unique atmosphere, combining elegance, conviviality and sea air... The fashionable seaside resort of Scheveningen, with its iconic Kurhaus and magnificent beaches, is just a few kilometres from the city centre.

When planning a short getaway, whether as a couple or with friends, we always look for a place that harmoniously combines culture, pleasure and relaxing discoveries. Beaune, the charming heart of Burgundy, is exactly that place. Less than four hours from Luxembourg, this town captivates us not only with its picturesque old town, but also with its wine-growing tradition and culinary diversity.

“Liège!?” asks my travel buddy when I suggest our destination for a long weekend... “Isn't that just steel, soccer, and French fries?” But two weeks later, we're sitting by the Meuse, drinking a creamy Café Liégeois and realizing that this city not only has heart, but also style, culture, and a rather idiosyncratic charm.

Baden-Baden is located in south-west Germany, nestled between the rolling hills of the Black Forest and the picturesque vineyards of the Baden-Württemberg region. Thanks to its privileged location at the crossroads of three countries and its many cultural and natural treasures, this elegant spa town is also very popular with Luxembourgers.
